What are Taster Courses?

Taster courses are bite-sized sessions for students to experience simulated lessons of a particular University course. They are 2-3 hour lessons that include immersive and informational mock lectures, tutorials, and seminars.

Taster courses are suitable for students in Secondary and Junior College (i.e., aged 13 to 19) and are tweaked according to the stage in which the students are with regards to thinking about their University careers and careers beyond that.

We offer both physical and virtual taster courses to cater to the different learning needs of students and institutions.

Our TaCo Instructors also breakdown the potential career pathways for degree holders, allowing students to get a glimpse of the post tertiary life. We know the key thing on the minds of the students is how do they put themselves in a good position to apply for the programme and rest assured, our instructors will give them tips and share with them about their personal application process.

Hear from our students

I attended TaCo’s TaCo fiesta on both days, and took part in a few of the sessions. I enjoyed how we can learn a little bit of the university content through the taster courses. I had never attended any tasters or zoom about Life sciences before and this gave me more insight into what life sciences actually entails. I realized that I gravitated towards what they taught in university but the career paths may not be suitable for me. Even though I was not strongly inclined towards the courses I attended, TaCo was certainly useful as it gave me a clearer picture about various courses and allowed me to consider my suitability in these courses. Even when I realized that I am not as interested in the course, being able to eliminate the option is just as valuable as choosing it when it comes to narrowing down what we want to pursue.
